Recently two new important African-American slave narratives have come to light, published here along with scholarly commentary for the first time. I have never read a Max Lucado book that I didn't just absolutely love. I applaud her cleverness and can-do attitude and find it quite contagious. I am giving this book three stars though I did consider four but in the end I feel it is only an OK book as the characters never came that alive to me. It felt like 90% of the book dealt with Kelsey whining about not being good enough, or not understanding what Gabriel wants in the relationship.
