The elderly detectives are not so easily deterred, however. I loved that Zayn was able to make a female friend and there wasn't that caddy girl angst that seems prevalent in YA novels today. I really like Judy Moody. She seems a bit shallow and not as sincere as Bannon, who is a very likable, strong character in the book and doesn't somehow seem worthy of his love for her.
